Just for laughs

So while waiting to get Lydia fitted for her brace (for her hips...) We (Jake and I) got bored waiting...so we decided to test out some of the equipment in the doctor's office. Then I got the bright idea to play a trick on our parents and send them a picture of Lydia in her new brace!

It was pretty funny!

Sorry mom's....but should she have to wear one, she's pretty cute in one huh?

Sisters

Just a look at what my days are like with two girls. How I love it.

a friendly reminder

All right, it's that time of season for mommy here to send out a friendly reminder. Baby handling 101!
It's flu season people, winter is upon us. So please refrain from kissing my baby and toddler on the mouth or any where near it if you are sick. It's not cute to pass a cold along or share it. No one wants that. Keep it to yourself.
Along with kissing, under no circumstances should anyone, I mean anyone, sticks their finger in my baby's mouth. Well, if she's choking, please do. But just because she wants it in your mouth due to teething or what have you, DON'T do it! It's gross, no one but daddy and mommy are allowed. So please refrain.
Don't let the baby put things like keys, phone, remote, etc...in her mouth. Again, don't pass any nasty's this way!
That's all I can think of for now, but please ya'll...remember our little one's are delicate when it comes to such matters.
Have a good weekend and remember to sneeze in the crook of your arm, not hand!

Book Shelf Re-do...

...for one dollar! Yes, One dollar ya'll! I all ready had all the supplies! Soooo, I finally sanded down this old bookshelf I found at a rummage while walking with Jake and the girls.
I have to tell this story, it is one Jake and I are not proud of but are now laughing at. We were only 3 blocks into our walk when we stopped at a rummage. Of course Isabelle wanted out of the stroller so we let her while I browsed. There was a plastic pool for sale with another kid or two testing it out, so Isabelle stepped in with them. Upon purchase of our 1 dollar bookshelf we said we'd be back to pick it up on our way home. We continued our walk, about 3 houses down I realized that there were just cowgirl boots in Isabelle's seat and NO ISABELLE!!! Quickly I said to Jake 'oh my goodness turn around NOW!' Yep we left our oldest playing in an empty plastic pool. Oh man, it's funny now but not at the time. Oh my heart dropped for minute as I quickly ran back, scooped her up and put her back in the stroller. I don't care if your kid is just crawling or 2 and half, they are fast little buggers and need our attention 24/7.

On that note, here are the pics of the book shelf completed. The picture wouldn't be complete with out Isabelle posing, I guess it's appropriate seeing as how we almost left her behind for that dollar shelf.

Purple is the new pink

So with Lydia I have been trying so hard to put more purple on her than pink. I am so sick of pink! It is my favorite color, but with baby girl # 2...pink is gettin' old.

So send anything purple, plum, lavender, violet, etc...our way!

the girls

A few fun pics I found on my phone of the girls

Holiday cookin'

Since just before Thanksgiving I have been baking like crazy. It is so much fun and especially with all the 'help' I get from Isabelle. Really though, the house has never smelled so delish.
Nothing says Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas like the constant smell of baked cookies and pies. The night before Thanksgiving I made my apple and pumpkin pie; with the extra dough I had left over I made two bite size pies for Isabelle. Jake and I enjoyed them more than she did.

For the first time I made Turkey and dumpling soup which was so so delicious. Oh how it warmed our belly's with these cold days we've been having.

You'll notice the apple pie with all the fork holes was my first apple pie I have ever baked and boy was it good.

Jake stepped in with some bacon wrapped burgers and smoked Swiss cheese on top, and I helped out with a fun baked potato recipe.

Bed Head

Thanksgiving morning...

Isabelle as usual talking with Lydia. She is such a good sister. Always keeping her entertained and now Lydia just responds with pulling her. I just love these my girls!

Thanksgiving

(Izzy refused to look at the cam.)

Where does the time go these days? Thanksgiving is over, black Friday has passed and now our Christmas deco is out. Let me catch my breath!
Thanksgiving was such a nice day this year. It's hard to believe that a year ago this time our parents were the first to find out that we we're expecting again!
We started our Thanksgiving a bit early with baking Rice Krispie treats and Chex Mix on Tuesday and Wednesday was pie night. Jake actually baked the apple pie and I the pumpkin. If I wouldn't have done it in stages it would have been such an overwhelming day and I wanted to enjoy the day.
Isabelle helped with the Krispie treats n Chex mix, well more so ate everything as I mixed and stirred. These days I find myself holding Isabelle a little bit tighter and enjoying her quick hugs. As much of a drama queen and stubborn girl she is my heart aches to know and see how fast she is growing and how soon she won't want a hug from me or want to come out of her room....
Back to ramblings.
We woke early Thursday morning and decided we would go to the Sun Bowl parade near down town El Paso. It was crazy packed! Finally my girlfriends hubs and mine found a parking spot while us ladies found a spot to squeeze into with our 5 girls. Yes my girlfriend has 3 adorable girls and our 2 make 5 little snots. :)
The parade was long and fun. Isabelle was so excited and crashed the minute she got in the car. We were home a little after noon and eating by 3:30. In between of course was foot ball with a spread of cheese, crackers, sausage, and sweets.
Later that evening we went to a friends house where Isabelle played like a maniac and Lydia was all smiles and coo's for us adults; making everyone smile.
She is such a chunker. I just love it. I am stunned by the fact that I, again, pulled out more of Isabelle's clothes for Lydia to wear. She is in 6 month clothes and some 9 month outfits too. The girl is just 4 months.
This is the 2nd year that I haven't been out for black Friday, instead I did my shopping online. Pretty much done shopping.
We are now going to be getting ready for the hubs ball we are going to in a couple of weeks. We are not 'ball' people in the least, but are definitely looking to a night out with just us 2 and an actual reason to get dressed up.
Hope your Thanksgiving was relaxing and fun. Gobble Gobble ya'll!

(Like the pics of the girls? It is so hard to get both girls to look and smile, I say it's 'Mission Impossible'!Ha)

Let's do something!

Let me just say I am sick of seeing all of our photos either on my bed or the couch. Ahh, I need to pull my camera out more often! Needless to say, we have been doing stuff, I just have yet to 'snap' a picture!

Fire me... :)

Check her out

Our baby girl is growing and growing, I didn't realized how fast it all goes until #2 came along. Seeing her in her big sister's clothes...I feel like every 2 weeks or so I am rummaging through another tote pulling out more clothes for Lydia. However I hit a road block, can you say 'opposite seasons?' Yep, even in this hot state, I am now finding myself buying Lydia little fleece outfits and long sleeved one-sies. Isabelle's cute tank tops and sun dresses just aren't gonna make it! So I have been giving bags of clothes away to some of my lady friends at bible study. Of course keeping a few of my favorites here and there should we have another girl. :)
Lydia is definitely holding her head up all on her own now and starting to wiggle everywhere! I do believe rolling over will be next.
She is such a happy baby and her smiles melt all the stress away. Isabelle is still a good helper although I think she cries and whines more than Lydia does...I can't wait for this sassy stage to be over.
All of us are counting down the days to Christmas in Wisconsin. I can not wait for my family to love on my little girls and just see them interact. I know Isabelle especially is asking daily 'when are we going on the airplane.'
Any whoodles, here is my 2nd cutie pie, Lydia Mae being just as sweet as always.

Last weekend

We relaxed and it's been good to have Jake home these last few days!
Jake came home from the field on his birthday, 11-11-11 this year.I made him shrimp and steak. We can't always go out these days so I have been bringing the good stuff to him. I had the meat marinating all afternoon and boy was he happy when he came home. We had a relaxing weekend, although Jake got sick on Sunday. Thank goodness he had Monday to recoup. Isabelle got a couple of Christmas presents early; a toy house and picnic table for our newly landscaped back yard. Over all it was a good weekend as a family. Jake got the new Modern Warfare...plenty of PS3 playing going on over here.

Daddy's Girls

Jake and the girls, and lounging is what they do best :)
We are ready for this field rotation to be over, so are not cramming everything into a weekend any more.

where do the days go?

Time is flying! Every day seems to pass by and before I know it it's p.j. time and Jake is coming home again for the weekend. I have been in a slump the last month and I am finally ready to face the problem and DO something about it. The problem? I am still in my big girl clothes and am sick of it. It is my own fault, I have no one to blame but me. I started to hit the gym at 6 weeks post baby and it lasted for 3 weeks...and then wham bam I got lazy and stopped.
I am putting a schedule up on the fridge and an alarm on my phone to keep me in a routine. In January both girls will start going to the new daycare on post near my house 3 times a week so I can work out. Yep, Daycare...I have anxiety just thinking about it. But I have time to prepare for it; Isabelle will be 3 by then and she can keep an eye out for her little sis. (It also doesn't open till Jan.) Until then I will do weights 3 times a week and cardio 4 times a week.
So now that I have voiced my problem I feel like I can start over and fresh, again, cause I want to wear my skinny jeans come Christmas!

The girls are growing so fast. Isabelle talks like she is 10, Lydia is sweet as ever and is starting to laugh! I find her with her covers tossed off at night and almost side ways, that means rolling over is next. Aww my girls, how you grow so fast.

Next week is our big follow up at Carrie Tingly Hospital in Albuquerque, NM. As always I am so grateful for our insurance. Everything will be covered, gas, hotel stay, and food. It will be a long day, lots of Dr's, and I hope and pray for all good news developmental wise with our Lydia.

I was sicker than anything all day yesterday and today feel like I got the ba-jesus kicked out of me. But, the girls show no sign of getting it next so Amen to that.
Luckily my girlfriend came and took Izzy out of the house for a few hours. It was such a blessing. It is hard with Jake not home during the week.
I can not wait for this field time to be over with. This is the last full week.

As always, here are the pics of my cute little naughties!
