Purple and Pink Stripes
The time came for Lydia on Friday to have her bi-lateral foot correction surgery. We drove and hour to Nashville, in the dark and pouring rain. None the less made it there safe and ready. Due to Lydia's Spina Bifida she has nerve damage down to her feet which causes her to be very pigeon toed. As well as when she stands its on the outsides of her feet. One foot has better standing position than the other but none the less she needed some help.
Time has sure flown by, I remember when she was just a baby and we found out she would need this done after the age of 1. And now that time has come and went. We were amazed at how quickly the procedure took and impressed by the team at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. Lydia did amazing coming off of anesthesia. We left our house at 5 am and we were home by 1130 am. Amazing.
She has pink and purple striped boot casts and is doing so well.
She can stand in them and is still crawling. All though she does seemed to get tangled up with the weight of the casts; but I think that may just take some getting used to. Lydia is definitely a bit heavier to carry now. But hey, that's a good arm work out for me and a good leg work out for Lydia. Right?
From the beginning Jake's parents made it clear that they would come and help out any way needed when surgery time rolled around and we're so grateful to them for coming to help. They stayed with Isabelle and helped out with dinner and it was such a help. Lord knows as parents our mind and heart was racing all morning.
Although I did feel quite a peace in my heart. I think all the prayers going out for our little one and for us as parents were being answered. God knows no boundaries and everything went smooth, our Lydia did amazing, and we are so thankful this step is over with and our looking forward to her healing and next steps into getting her walking!
So thank you again family and friends; for your prayers, thoughts, and kind words.
Have a great Sunday!
